Hola, y buenos dias from Buenos Aires! I have arrived (although the tropical sunshine is yet to make an appearance...I thought the pilot was having a joke when he said the ground temperature was minus 1 degree celsius. He wasn´t).
Things I wish I had brought with me:
A hat
A scarf
A jacket
My boots
Another jacket
A hairdryer.
Things I am glad I brought:
A torch (thank you DLA-ers!)
My A&F hoodie (literally the warmest jumper ever!)
So far I have learned:
Argentians don´t like spicy food
The ´ll´ (in ´llamo´ y ´pollo´) is pronounced ´sszh´
Argentina does the best steaks in the world. Had an absolute beast of a sirloin steak last night, for a mere five quid...
Dad´s ´ínternationál, works in any country in the world´ phone does not work in Buenos Aires. And you can´t dial UK mobiles from BA payphones...blog and email it is then!
Otherwise having an awesome time, flight was uneventful (apart from having to call the stewardess to wake the VERY fat man entirely blocking my route from seat to aisle - who I could not have climbed over even with assistance, and who would not wake up no matter how hard I shook his arm and shout ´senor´ in his ear.) Off out for some drinks this evening with a cultural blend of Irish and American girls, then back to my surprisingly comfy top bunk bed. I really miss having a bunk bed ' the girl was really apologetic when she announced that the top bunk was the only one left, but I couldn´t have been happier! (álthough I think the guy below me would happily have swapped after I stood on his leg for the third time this morning when climbing down...)
Missing you all - please keep in touch via comments/FB. Off to explore the shopping district now - who needs culture?!
xxxxxx
